Silent Alarm Clocks

Many people are always looking for a personnel alarm to wake them up in the morning and there is a wide range of clocks to choose from a wide range of manufacturers. However one of the biggest complaints people have with their clock is that the ticking sound keeps them awake, this can be an annoyance and inconvenience in the middle of the night, which means the device is waking you up at the wrong time.

One of the biggest culprits for a non silent alarm clock is the traditional wind up alarm clock and the more modern electrical devices with ticking second hands. Both types of clocks make a ticking noise which can be frustrating when you are trying to get to sleep at night.

Perhaps the worst type of noisy alarm is the traditional wind up clock, it has a series of mechanical parts which are driven by the kinetic energy from the winding mechanism which has loads of moving internal parts which causes the annoying ticking sound. Even modern battery powered quartz clocks can also have annoying noises which is caused by the hands ticking, especially annoying could be the seconds hand which the ticking sound can be heard. Many designs with a seconds hand make the most noise, so when choosing a design with a seconds hand there are a range that do not make any noise.

To solve the problem of annoying noisy alarms it is best to purchase a silent clock, these cdesigns are specially mado to make no noise at night so they will only ever wake you up when the main alarm goes off.

Most of the silent kinds of alarm clocks are digital, they do not have moving clock mechanism’s and so do not make any noise, the reason for this is because they are all run from accurate electronics which displays the time digitally on either an LCD screen or LED screen.

The other type of popular silent clocks are specially designed analogue clocks with silent sweep dials, this means that the hands, even the seconds hand make no or very little noise when they show the time.

Many manufacturers such as the London Clock Company and Acctim of the UK have a range of quiet and silent alarms.

An example of a silent sweep clock is the Acctim Europa Silent Sweeper Alarm Black, which is nice and quiet for light sleepers.

As a summary there are a wide range of silent and quiet alarms to choose from so if you are a light sleeper and wake easily these types of clocks will be ideal for you. On the opposite side there are people who like to hear the ticking noise of an clock as it helps them so to sleep, probably the best choice is to buy a traditional wind up metal clock as they make the good old traditional ticking sound that is associated with more traditional designs.
